General Position Summary

Develops seasonal sales and inventory plans for multiple divisions/departments based on trend, store profiles, and seasonal opportunities; Oversees buying process looking at average per store targets, weeks of supply, AUR and units by classification; Trains and develops planning staff and works closely with heads of merchandising to ensure that divisional/departmental goals and strategies are being appropriately executed

General Job Functions

  • Partners with President of PORSCIA sport, SVP of 2b/outlets and Sr. Director of PORSCIA.com to determine strategies to launch new businesses and achieve divisional targets
  • Manages and signs off on multiple division/department OTBs on a weekly basis to ensure that the sales, inventory and receipt plans are being met
  • Provides planning direction to Planning Managers and Planners in order to determine the appropriate seasonal plans by category and monitors weekly for execution and re-forecasting
  • Signs off final investments on merchandise buys focusing on department/classification contribution vs. LY, weekly receipt flow, store distribution of selected items and depth of buy in key items vs. layer buys
  • Guides team to analyze sales and inventory performance at the department, class, and style/color level to capitalize on unique sales trends and provide re-order/flow recommendations to the Merchant team to maximize sales and turn
  • Approves promotional and markdown recommendations in order to liquidate through the merchandise in the most profitable manner
  • Manages multiple divisions’ training and development of Planning Managers and Planners
  • Develops and manages departmental reporting structure in terms of specific departmental analysis requirements and timing
  • Additional responsibilities, duties, and projects as assigned

General Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years of experience in the field or in a related field with minimum 2-3 years as Director or Sr. Manager level
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Proficient in Arthur Product and Channel Planning or related Planning systems
  • Previous people management experience and/or managing multiple direct reports
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to cope with heavy workload, multiple deadlines, and working under pressure
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with fellow co-workers and cross functional teams
